(AOF) – Saint-Gobain and Icade have signed a letter of intent for a partnership aimed at developing buildings (offices, activities, housing and healthcare establishments) with low environmental impact on French territory. Thanks to the combined know-how of the two companies, this partnership will make it possible to accelerate and consolidate low-carbon construction and renovation, by integrating Saint-Gobain constructive innovations in Icade projects.
This partnership will focus in particular on wood construction, off-site construction (prefabrication), and the use of new products designed with biosourced and geosourced materials.
In this context, Saint-Gobain and Icade will promote the use of solutions and materials with a high percentage of recycled content, and products and systems resulting from re-use. The two companies will thus ensure the resilience of the buildings, in particular adaptation to climate change.
“We are very pleased with this partnership project with Icade, which is in line with our “Grow & Impact” strategic plan to be the leader in sustainable construction in the world. It is also a new step in our roadmap. CO2 road aiming for carbon neutrality by 2050, and for 2030 a 33% reduction in our CO2 emissions, scope 1 and 2, in absolute terms compared to 2017 and 16% in scope 3″, declared Thierry Fournier, Deputy Managing Director of Saint-Gobain, in charge of Southern Europe, the Middle East and Africa.
“Icade has made low carbon its strategic priority and one of the pillars of its Purpose, and wanted to accelerate its ambitions to reduce its greenhouse gas emissions by aligning all of its activities with a 1.5° “net zero emission” trajectory, validated by the SBTi”, declared Olivier Wigniolle, Chief Executive Officer of Icade.
