Catherine was born in Alexandria and died at 18. Noble, highly educated, mystical, she would have resisted the attempts of the greatest scholars to convince her of the inexistence of God. She was condemned to death for having converted them. Venerated during the Middle Ages, she was one of the “voices” of Saint Joan of Arc. His relics rest in the Greek Orthodox monastery named after him on Mount Sinai, Egypt.
