(AOF) – Coffee prices have climbed 30% since early August, and even more than 70% since the start of the year, according to figures from the International Coffee Organization (ICO). On Friday, its composite price index surpassed 200, as the most common variety of coffee, Arabica, runs out. In addition to strong demand and global supply problems, harvests have been wiped out this year by extreme weather conditions in producing regions, including Brazil, the world’s main supplier of Arabica.
